We said goodbye to an old friend on Sunday, trading in our 1999 Mercury Cougar for a car with a little more family value.

The new car is pretty sweet. It’s a 2007 Acura TL Type-S. It has 4 doors, making it a lot easier to get the baby in and out, but it also has 286 horsepower, so it gets us from point A to point B pretty quickly. Our new car talks to us and asks us questions. We’ve named her Susie, after Elaine’s alter-ego on an episode of Seinfeld. I don’t know what one has to do with the other, it just seemed like a good idea. Anyway, Susie, you have big tires to fill; your predecesor was a great car for eight years. Here’s hoping you can stick around at least that long!

I went back to work this past Wednesday, and yes, it was a hard day. Any one who asked me how I was that morning got a teary-eyed answer. As hard as it is to leave our baby, it was even harder since she wouldn’t take the bottle. We started a week ago, and realized we had a problem. Of course, the experts at the daycare have done a great job and she does better each day. The main teacher of the baby room, Miriam, said she’s interested in the other babies (there are 8 in the room, including Charlotte) and that her demeanour is happy and she’s been talking a lot. Which is great, that’s how she acts at home, so she’s transitioning really well.

Beth, another teacher, plays with the babies in the room. Leah in front is almost one, Jose has his back to the camera and is Miriam’s son, McKinnley is in the blue. We’ve been spending time there and learning about the other kids, getting to know the teachers better and meeting the other parents.
